Rabbi
The work of art is sacred. The work of being an artist is another thing entirely.
I am a rabbi who works with artists.
Art is my “pulpit.”
Artists are my “congregation.”
My work as a rabbi is inextricably bound up with my identity as an artist. As someone who has worked and struggled to establish creative practices over the decades while trying to maintain inspiration and make a living, I know that artists are perpetually underserved and under-resourced. Oftentimes, it is only at that elusive moment when an artist “levels up” or wins an award that society pays attention to their work, if at all. This reality can be destabilizing even for the most grounded of creators.
Drawing from years of experience as a playwright, dramaturg, producer and pastoral care giver, I work extensively with creatives to identify and activate their spiritual and cultural resources for the sake of furthering their art.
